Sorry for the delay! The Park Bench experiment was a raving success. I have to admit it all looked a bit dodgy during the dress rehearsal on Sunday, but I was blown away by your brilliance on Wednesday night and again on Friday night. Well done everyone. You did us proud! High spots are hard to mention as everybody did so well….Coralie had an excellent moment of inspiration when raiding the bin for a bin liner for the sandwiches scene, Tim pulled a blinder for standing in at such short notice, Lottie’s wasp was also a great last minute addition and Steven won the audience over straight away with the sandwich board. Beth’s monologue made everyone cry and the combine harvester bit was hysterical (if ridiculous!)
Memorable moments include me forgetting to get you all backstage and ready before my talky bit…..Chad totally missing his entire scene in spite of being poised ready for half an hour before, Iain puking all night and missing the Friday performance and the bench doing its flicky thing.
Midsummer Night’s Dream was brilliant too -many people said what a lovely end it made.
I was highly impressed at how well you organised yourselves on and off stage – the blu tak and running orders must have paid off! The audience was highly complimentary and loved the fact that it was so varied and so obviously YOUR work….the ownership thing is very important to Mosaic.
So another chapter closed and we are shooting towards the Summer Holidays. The next big peformance is The Wizard of Oz at the Walter Roy Theatre on September 7th -more tornado news to follow!
There are workshops for new year 7 students at Thorpe on August 26th and August 28th – welcome to any prospective attendees -ring and book your place quickly, they are limited!
I must get more photos on here -we have some brilliant ones – I could even work out how to download the film that played at the start of Park Bench. Must get permission slips out to parents -please remind me!
Plans for next year will be finalised by next week……….watch this space! I am thrown by the noisy Year 7 group wanting to remain together and unspoiled ” we are one big family”……can I cope with another year??
I’ll post dates for Musical theatre as a seperate page…….
Enjoy the sunshine everyone X
Park Bench…..
July 3, 2008Brundall School Fete
June 14, 2008We made it! A splendid half hour slot at Brundall School Fete everybody – you did us proud. ‘A Single Wish’ made people cry (because it was so moving, not because it was so awful!) and the 70’s boogie piece was great fun -the audience loved joining in. I was impressed by the range of people dancing -between the ages of 1 and 70 at least! I’ve got some super photographic evidence but need to get permission to post them -watch this space. great piano playing too Chloe, unfortunately we won’t post photos of this as I was sitting like a cerise gnome in front….. looking most peculiar!
Sunday 15th June is the dress rehearsal for Park Bench -2-5 in the studio at Thorpe. Remember to come in costume and bring any props you need. You can reserve tickets for the perfomances on Wednesday and Friday then.
Park Bench is performed on Wednesday 18th and Friday 20th at 7.00. Actors need to be there at 6.15. Because of the improvised nature of the piece we have no idea what time it will finish….hopefully it will be before midnight!
Thursday group -we have an extra rehearsal on Tuesday straight after school in N19 this week -don’t forget -the areas of need will be addressed then.
There has been some discussion about favourite biscuits….email me and let me know which you prefer -Jammie Dodgers, Bourbons or cookies? Perhaps it is time for a change……
Hello world!
June 7, 2008My first ever blog! I thought this would be a good way to keep the youth theatre members and their parents updated and to encourage people to see themselves as the part of the greater whole!
Hot news is that we performed at the Old People’s Home in Brundall this afternoon. The Musical Theatre group sang ‘Pack up your Troubles’ and acted an evacuee scene on the train station. it was hugely successful -we were very proud of everyone. Highlights included Caroline tripping over the twig and the strange go-carts that kept driving past us! There was some concern when pickle sandwiches came out, but we enjoyed lots of cakes a few minutes later-phew! Well done to everybody involved -you did us proud and made lots of elderly people very happy. The organiser said that it was wonderful to see the young people performing together and especially good because it involved some nostalgia.
Next Saturday (14th) is the Brundall School fete -the younger Brundall group are performing ‘A Single Wish’ accompanied by Chloe on the piano! If I can work out how to I’ll attach the poem they wrote for viewing. After that is a slightly more upbeat ‘Don’t Blame it on Sunshine’ by Musical Theatre -we are hoping to get the audience up and dancing for this one!
Sunday 15th is the technical and dress rehearsal for ‘Park Bench’, the massive experiment combining three groups and seven year groups. it will run from 2.00 until 5.oo in the Drama Studio at Thorpe – stress levels will be high as we try and fit it all together, but I’m sure we’ll be o.k…….eeeek.
The performances of ‘Park Bench’ are 18th and 20th June -7.00 in the Drama Studio. Tickets can be reserved from Monday!
Do reply to this if you find it and give me some advice on how to make it more succesful -my IT skills are limited! I’ll do a permission slip for photos and get some embarrassing shots on…..be warned Helena and Coralie!!
